Hyperhidrosis Treatment

No More Sweating It

Let’s talk about Hyperhidrosis. Of course, we can all expect some sweat after a great cardio session at the gym or on a sweltering day, but every single day? Even when you’re not doing much? Excessive sweating can be uncomfortable and also a little embarrassing, but luckily there are measures you can take to help with your hyperhidrosis.

Hyperhidrosis is a medical term used to define excessive sweating. The sweating may be limited to a few problem areas, or could be all over. For many, the armpits and the palms of the hands are more oftentimes troublesome. The excessive sweating usually starts after puberty, and is most notably present during high stress events. It’s important to note that excessive sweating occurring in areas other than the armpits and palms may be a sign of a serious problem. Both systemic and neurological conditions need to be ruled out, as well as anxiety conditions, but most cases have no underlying causes.

Treatment:

For Hyperhidrosis, Botox is the most effective treatment.

Injections are administered here at A Denver Med Spa’s office quickly and easily, and require little downtime and no restrictions from work or leisure activity. However, it is best to not participate in any intensive exercise or utilize a sauna during the day of the injections. For the armpits in specific, it is best to not shave the area before the Botox is injected.

With a very fine needle, tiny amounts of Botox are injected just under the skin throughout the designated areas where you’re experiencing excessive sweating. Physicians follow a grid pattern, where injections are made approximately every 1 to 2 centimeters. Depending on the assessment of the area and how severe the sweating is, multiple injections may be necessary.
