NO MORE SWEATING IT
It’s disturbing. Uncomfortable. Embarrassing. Sure you expect a little when you do 40 miles of a spin class or run a triathlon, but every day? So let’s talk Hyperhidrosis. Have you heard of it before? Have you really any idea what it is? Do many people?
Hyperhidrosis is the medical term for excessive sweating. The problem may be limited to a few problem areas or may be all over. The armpits and the palms are the area’s most often troublesome. Excessive sweating starts after puberty. It may be present to some degree all the time, but is at its worst when under stress such as during exams, interviews or dating. Excess sweating that affects areas other than the armpits and palms may a sign of serious problems. Systemic, neurological and anxiety conditions need to be ruled out; however, most cases have no underlying cause.
The use of Botox for the treatment of hyperhidrosis can be most effective.
Injections can be administered in a physician’s office, require relatively little time, and do not demand any restrictions in work or leisure activity (aside from refraining from intensive exercise or the use of a sauna on the day of the injections). Prior to Botox injections in the underarms, it’s best not to shave that area.
During the procedure, a very fine needle is used to inject tiny amounts of Botox just under the skin intermittently throughout the area of excessive sweating (in a grid pattern, approximately every 1 to 2 centimeters.) Multiple injections are given based on the assessment of the area that needs to be treated.
