Laser Hair Removal Q&A

What kind of hair growth can be removed with laser hair removal?

With laser hair removal treatment, hair can be permanently removed or reduced in almost any area.

The areas that are most commonly treated are:

  • Back: full back, or upper or lower back
  • Legs: full leg or half leg
  • Bikini area: bikini line or full Brazilian
  • Chest: full chest, or upper or lower chest
  • Underarms
  • Face: full face, chin, or lip

In the even that you would like to remove hair in multiple areas, your provider here at A Vitality will create a tailored treatment plan that will bring the results you desire.

What is laser hair removal like?

Once you put on your provided protective goggles, all you need to do is sit back and relax while your provider uses the Quanta laser to smoothly treat the intended area. When this laser is used, it sends powerful pulses straight into the hair follicles, causing permanent energy heat damage that prevents further hair production.

The Quanta has an Advanced Contact Cooling feature that chills your skin as its zapping hair follicles, making the procedure more comfortable and effective. You may feel a slight snapping sensation as the the laser pulses, but the Quanta has a larger spot size, which allows it to cover larger areas quickly.

When should I expect results from laser hair removal?

For most patients, four to six treatments is best for optimal results. Following that, most women achieve 50-80% hair reduction in the treated area(s).

Laser hair removal conducted on the face is usually spaced four to five weeks apart, whereas areas on the body are usually spaced six to eight weeks apart. The hair that remains after these sessions are typically thinner, lighter, and slow growing.

How can I prepare for laser hair removal?

A few weeks prior to your appointment, consult with your provider from VitalityMD about any medications you’re taking. If you’re currently taking any antibiotics, you may need to postpone your treatment until after your antibiotics are completed, as they can increase risk of laser damage.

Cease any waxing, threading, or plucking of the hair for at least two weeks prior to your first appointment. A Vitality MD provider will let you know when it’s appropriate to shave (usually being the day before or day of your first session)

The lighter that your skin is in comparison to your hair, the more effective the laser will being when removing, so it is important to avoid the sun and self-tanners for at least two weeks before your first appointment.

For permanently smooth skin, laser hair removal is your best option. To schedule an appointment, click the online booking tool or call VitalityMD today for a consultation.
